When I first spotted this Mango suit at the thrift store, I nearly gasped with excitement!  It still had the tags on it, was my size, and plaid.  The icing on the cake was that it was super long, a rare find right ‘off the rack’ for a tall girl.  I couldn’t try on the pants, but was willing to take the chance and purchase anyway.  I didn’t think twice, but later thought how will I style a plaid suit?  Where will I wear it?

It turns out that it wasn’t that hard to do, once I stopped over analyzing it.  Think of the plaid as a neutral, like leopard, and pair with anything I want.  For the first look, I took the easier route and styled it on the dressy casual side.  Paired with a black top and black pointed toe boots, this look would definitely work well in the office. Keep the jacket belted for dressy and open for a more relaxed look.

For the second look, I paired the suit with a recently thrifted graphic tee.  If you don’t know, I am a sucker for graphic tees.  It’s an obsession that I have to keep in tact, purging at least once a year.  Throw a leopard belt in this look for a subtle print mix and some white sneakers for a crisp pop.  I think I prefer this look, as it’s unexpected.  I would wear this to work on a Friday or the weekend running around.  Previously,  I wore the jacket by itself with a graphic tee, distressed denim, and western booties.  It was a nice casual vibe as well.

Do you have any suits in your closet?  How would you style a plaid suit?  Challenge yourself to see how many ways you can wear it!  It will definitely create more styling options in your closet, without necessarily buying new items.  I’ve also decided to wear this anywhere, whenever the mood hits – no special occasion required!
